2nd November 2019
I saw Phil Swann on Monday evening and I showed him the chords on my guitar to a song called A Rare Romance. It's a song about Roger Mortimer during the reign of Edward II that I composed last year but have not finished recording. Phil played along with me on his 12 string acoustic guitar and also his bouzouki. Playing the song on the bouzouki gives it a medieval feel so I hope that he will help with the recording of the tune with that instrument. I also really liked his finger picking style on his acoustic 12 twelve string guitar.
I think we have decided to drop the idea of gigs for the Legendary Ten Seconds. Phil has got gigs with the Estuary Buoys and Lord Zarquon is busy rehearsing the Prophets of Zarquon. I'm going to continue to focus on writing song ideas and recording. My latest tune is called The Fastest Own Goal about Torquay United entering the Guinness Book of Records.
THE FASTEST OWN GOAL
REMEMBER WHEN HE MADE THE NEWS
THAT SPECIAL OWN GOAL BY PAT KRUSE
WE SCORED FOUR GOALS IN A TWO ALL DRAW
YOU'D SURELY NOT SEEN THAT BEFORE
IT WAS IN THE GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS
AN OWN GOAL SCORED IN JUST SIX SECONDS
CAMBRIDGE CAME TO TORQUAY
ANOTHER MATCH FOR YOU TO SEE
THE THIRD OF JANUARY AT PLAINMOOR
YOU STILL REMEMBER THE FINAL SCORE
WHAT A WAY TO GAIN SUCH FAME
AND HOW WELL YOU RECALL THAT GAME
THE FASTEST OWN GOAL YOU'D EVER SEEN
PITY OUR POOR FOOTBALL TEAM
PHIL SANDERCOCK THEN SCORED ONE MORE
BUT WILLIE BROWN GAINED US A DRAW
